Family Glamping Trip - MWR LORA (Lake of the Ozarks Rec Area)

When my husband's deployment orders came in, they were extremely short notice and we didn't have much time to spend together as a family. One thing we had been talking about was camping as a family (goodbye, dreams of Nepal 2018) so we called around and found the best deal for a cabin at MWR LORA. The Lake of the Ozarks is about an hour away from us, down a twisty country road. Not recommended for those who get carsick easily - haha.

We rented one of the two-bedroom cabins because lets be honest- as much as I can pretend to be all hippy and down with nature, I HATE bugs. And Missouri is basically the tick capital of the states. Two words: HARD PASS

The dogs and kids got settled in and we checked out the lake a bit. We got in pretty late on Thursday evening, so there wasn't time for much after grilling a dinner of burgers and dogs.

Friday we went and rented a pontoon boat for 2 hours. Man, it was nice being on the lake. All of us (minus Mads) took turns jumping off into the lake and Nora got to try out her cool Fin Fun Mermaid Tail she had gotten in the mail the day before.

Later that night we did some more grilling and had a campfire. Each cabin comes with a small grill and firepit, so we didn't have to break open the $15 walmart special we picked up the day prior. The kids got to swim a little more and everyone was absolutely beat by the time our heads hit the pillows.

We had to leave early the next morning, but we are already planning our next trip back. They have campsites, one bedroom, bedroom + loft, and two bedroom cabins available. I recommend calling waaaay in advance, because if we had came on a weekend we would have been screwed on such short notice.
